Building on the online success of The Mae West Project, QUEER VOICES is a new 16-part short-form video series that brings the words of iconic queer figures into the present through embodied, cinematic performance.
Each episode centers on a quote by a queer writer, artist, performer, or activist whose voice helped shape modern culture. These words — witty, defiant, sensual, tender — are
presented as living language spoken directly to the camera by 4 contemporary performers.
The quotes draw from a wide range of global voices, spanning different languages, genders, and historical moments. These figures represent the intellectual, artistic, and political breadth of queer experience. They include Oscar Wilde, David Bowie, Jodie Foster, Marcel Proust, RuPaul, James Baldwin, Robert Mapplethorpe to name a few.
QUEER VOICES affirms a simple but urgent truth:
Queer culture is not a passing movement. It is a lineage.
At a time when queer and trans lives are once again politicised and contested, this project insists on the continuity and resilience of the queer community across time and geography. It reminds audiences — especially younger generations — that they are part of a history of courage and creativity, and delivers a message of celebration.
The series is designed for digital platforms (Instagram, YouTube Shorts), allowing queer cultural memory to circulate widely, freely, and globally.
