
Biography

Daniele was born in Rome, and is based in London. He has dual Italian and British citizenship.

His mini-short video series "When I'm bad, I'm better". The Mae West Project (a queer re-visitation of quotes by Mae West), is currently available on Instagram and YouTube.
​
His short film Hear my Voice (2021) won three awards. Best LGBT Short, Audience Award, at SENE Film Festival; Best Dramatic Short at WorldFest Houston; and Best LGBT Film at Lake View International Film Festival. It was also selected by over 30 film festivals, including Out on Film Atlanta, KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, San Francisco Another Hole in the Head Film Festival, Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, ImageOut Rochester LGBT Film Festival. It is a story he wrote himself, set in East London; the short film mixes autobiography and fiction, with a dreamlike/fantastic element.

His music video Homeless in L.A.: a meditation (2021), on music by Brian and Roger Eno, was officially selected for inclusion in “A quiet scene: L.A.”.

Daniele has also directed opera and theatre, notably the UK première of the play Purgatorio by Ariel Dorfman at the Arcola Theatre in London, with Adjoa Andoh and Patrick Baladi; Cautionary Tales by Errollyn Wallen at Latitude Festival, UK; My Feet May Take A Little While (based on the Errollyn Wallen songbook), and a staging of Dichterliebe, again at the Arcola Theatre; Il Segreto di Susanna at Teatro Verdi, Trieste, Italy; Aci, Galatea e Polifemo for the Göttingen International Handel Festival, Germany, and the London Handel Festival; Der Freischütz at Opéra de Metz and Opéra de Rennes, France; L’occasione fa il ladro by Rossini at Wexford Festival, Ireland, and the Royal Academy of Music in London; the UK première of Ciboulette by Reynaldo Hahn at UCOpera in London; Così fan tutte for Mid-Wales Opera. He also translated and directed the play The Fan, by Goldoni at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
Daniele's work has been supported by Arts Council England, the National Lottery, Grange Park Opera and the Hinrichsen Foundation.
